All Star Fan Fest

I hope I'm wrong about this one and it's awesome, but right now I don't get it.

A friend has been after me to bring the kids, and I was interested to learn more. The website is very vague and speaks of 'events.'.

Bon Jovi will play music - that I understand. 'Events' - what's that?

In the Post I see the advertising section about fanfest. Advertising means that the fanfest likely wrote the editorial - so let's take a look together.

Giveaways from sponsors. Mmm ok.

All star shower and shave.

Replica clubhouse. Cool I Guess.

Replica dugout. Eh.

Equipment room. Eh.

Home Run Derby. Cool. I fear the line but cool.

Stare at some New Era minor league caps.

Make catches against a wall. Again I fear the line.

See the wristbands of the pros! Really. NY Post p. 55

Hall of Fame exhibits. Cool

Some batting cages and bullpens and 'fielding practice.'

Well that's more than I knew. I'm not going to 'hate on it' but $30 for me and $25 for each kid - I think I'll wait til the Saturday papers and blogs to see if others enjoy it.

Mets Police- As the 'guy' badgering you - I have no friggin clue either but I heard about this thing a few years ago when they had the game in Pittsburgh. I figure if they can have fun at the 'fanfest' in a town where they still lament that 'mill closing' 37 years ago I can go to one in my hometown and check it out.

Yes, I anticipate long lines and being annoyed by obnoxious narcissistic New Yorkers and their equally offensive spawn but I think its worth a shot. Besides - my kid coming with me is 6 years old - taking the train to NY is exciting for him. Anything else remotely interesting is gravy. Kid was crapping himself less than 3 years ago - you don't have to work too hard to get him excited.

Will bring a few of my jerseys from the collection - saw a possibility of some cool uni stuff so I may have a chance to do some swapping. Somewhere out there is a 1976 horror show Mets road jersey with my name (or manager Joe Frazier's) on it.

If it's any good we get to go again in 2012 or whenever when the Mets host the game. We can take the Second Avenue Subway and West Side 7 extension there!!!

If You're Visiting For The First Time

If you are visiting The Mets Police for the first time, welcome.

This blog aims to be a little different. We're less likely to complain about a pitching change than we are likely to complain about what the pitcher was wearing.

We're about Mets history and tradition. We'd like to see a Seaver statue at Citi Field. We'd like the black uniforms to go away. We'd like the team to always treat the fans with respect.

We're just regular old Mets fans like you who have migrated from the uppers to the Promenade where we were saddened when we found plexiglass. Finally, for all our complaining we just want the franchise to win the World Series (while nicely dressed).

The site is updated several times a day, usually morning, noon, and night (cliche but true) with other items as they come in.
