Last Game At Yankee Stadium: ESPN Robs My Son of Memory

Well it's official - the September 21st game at Yankee Stadium (the final game) will be a night game.  I was going to take the boy.   At his age there's no way he can stay awake until 11pm in a packed staidum (on a school night too).

I was hoping to gift him this memory (he's quite young) so that even if he didn't appreciate it now, he might appreciate it when he's a man.

Once again ESPN strikes - it's an 8:05 start and even daddy will be looking at his watch and hoping for a fast game.

I think you're robbing him of the memory. Come on, it's the beginning of the school year. The world won't collapse if he misses a day!

He's 5. I can just about strecth him out at a day game. An 8:05 start could be rough - but you know what i will take your advice under consideration. Can you post at mommy's blog too?

Besides, I wouldn't necessarily fault ESPN, they're just making the game national so everyone can see it. Granted Yankees fans will miss out on their beloved Michael Kay and his call, but I have little sympathy.

Ouch. 5 is a pretty rough age to try and keep him awake during a baseball game, much less a Yankees OBP++++ game.

I constantly curse ESPN for moving Red Sox/Yankees games until 8 PM because their games are usually 4 hours plus.

In any case, you should at least try!

That sucks. I remember being at the last game at Tiger Stadium, and, I think, the game started at 3. We were out of there -- post-game ceremony and all -- by 9.

An 8:05 start probably means the first pitch won't be thrown until 8:30.

You're right. I bet they push the ceremonies to start at 8. Late September at night in New York can be chilly.
