Mike Mussina To "Hall of Garvey"

SS

As Mike Mussina heads off to retirement, it's time to nominate him for the Hall. No, not the Hall of Fame, the Hall of Garvey.

The Hall of Garvey is where the almost-greats go. It should be obvious who the founding member is.

Don Mattingly? He's in the HOG. Keith Hernandez? First ballot HOG.

Moose had a good career but he was never the best. You never looked at him and thought he'd be the one you told your son about. He didn't win championships. He had a solid very good career.

Cooperstown? No.

and this refutes your point:

You are wrong about Garvey too and you have have never refuted the facts.

Ozzie Smith was pretty much a one-dimensional player. Why should he be in?

In addition - look at Nolan Ryans career particualrly with regard to W/L% - and how many championships did he contribute to (69 Mets doesnt count)??

I never liked Mike Mussina but I think he has a decent shot of getting in the Hall. Someone on the Fan gave the stat that no pitcher who had over 200 wins and had 100 more wins than losses was not in the hall. I don't know if that is true. But I think guys like Jim Rice, Jim Kaat, Bert Blyleven, Jack Morris, Ron Santo and Ron Guidry deserve another look.

Mussina in not a "True" Yankee so I don't care.
Just like I don't care if A-Rod makes it even though it is obvious that he will.
