I Know a TD When I See One (NFL Should Ditch Replay)

One of the interesting things that came out of ESPN's telecast of the 1958 NFL Championship Game was how it's clear the modern player hits replay.

I feel the NFL should get rid of replay. It not only slows the game down, but winds up ruining the game when coaches take stabs at hoping a replay turns into the reset button.

I need you to watch something from yesterday's Falcons game. I know a touchdown when I see one, and this is a touchdown. I had nothing riding on the game. No money, no fantasy players, and I couldn't care less about the Falcons, but this is a touchdown.

OK, now isn't that obviously a touchdown? Why review that? I know a TD when I see it. That's a touchdown.

I'm not sure. The first angle clearly looked like a TD. The second angle looks as if the ball gets stripped before it crosses the plane--but I can't really tell if he doesn't have control before he crosses. I don't think there was conclusive evidence to overturn anyway--so I thought it should stand as a TD. Interestingly, I wanted to see one more angle and the ref who had that angle called it a TD immediately.

We're about Mets history and tradition. We'd like to see a Seaver statue at Citi Field. We'd like the black uniforms to go away. We'd like the team to always treat the fans with respect.

We're just regular old Mets fans like you who have migrated from the uppers to the Promenade where we were saddened when we found plexiglass. Finally, for all our complaining we just want the franchise to win the World Series (while nicely dressed).
