On this day 104 years ago, the greatest player to ever step on to a baseball diamond was born in Baltimore, MD.

The Babe's records may fall, but nobody will ever surpass him. He was not only the greatest hitter of all time, but one of the greatest pitchers of his time.

We've written about the Babe and his contributions before on the Mets Police. I argued for retiring his number, while my colleague argued against it. Whichever way you feel, today honor the Babe the way he would want to be honored - raise a beer or eat a hot dog.

There is no doubt that the Babe was an all-time great player and honored by baseball he should be. During his time, he basically saved the game and pumped life into it. His ability to pitch and hit is unmatched BUT I have always held that I feel that Willie Mays was the greatest player of all-time. Mays was a true five tool player.

This blog aims to be a little different. We're less likely to complain about a pitching change than we are likely to complain about what the pitcher was wearing.

We're about Mets history and tradition. We'd like to see a Seaver statue at Citi Field. We'd like the black uniforms to go away. We'd like the team to always treat the fans with respect.

We're just regular old Mets fans like you who have migrated from the uppers to the Promenade where we were saddened when we found plexiglass. Finally, for all our complaining we just want the franchise to win the World Series (while nicely dressed).

The site is updated several times a day, usually morning, noon, and night (cliche but true) with other items as they come in.
