Citi Field Lack of Advertising Very Evident

The recession is in evidence at Citi Field.

I haven't seen anyone else mention this, but among the so many things that we noticed last night were these huge blank spaces at different areas around the ballpark, specifically around the scoreboard and video screen.

The Mets have not sold all their advertising space - and some of it premium spots too. The result is probably the biggest eyesore in the new park.

Big gray squares of nothing look bad. I can understand that the Mets may be having a tough time selling the space - it's bad out there right now. But why don't they at least have those spaces a Mets blue, or put up Mets logos - something, anything but that blank gray.

There are also blank spots along the Pepsi Porch in RF.

Or the lack of ads is because the ads haven't been put up yet! Holy shit, this blog is nothing but stupid complaints. The layout is nice and you keep it up to date, but you complain about things without using your head first. These was the opening weekend for these two stadiums. They haven't totally finished them. Even on the day of the first games, workers were frantically putting up signs, paint, etc. as quickly as they could.

The ads aren't up because they simply didn't put them up yet. Chill out.

haven't put them up yet? if that's the case, then that's still something to be embarrassed about. how can you not be ready for opening day?

whatever the reason, it looks bad. and too bad that most of the people in the stadium have a clearer view of the empty billboards than they do of the infield.

citi field - best pronounced with an asian accent.

As of Opening Day all advertising spaces have been filled.

Personally a few less ads and some more Mets woudl have been better.

Well, I hope you guys are satisfied. Now Citi Field is chock fully of billboards and advertisements. The result is a corporate abomination to the name of baseball, making the park nothing but a statement about everything that is wrong with contemporary sports. Citi Field is the equivalent of having to endure commercials in movie theaters.
