Art Shamsky. He wrecked
Steve Carlton's 19-strikeout game on Sept. 15 that year, blasting two two-run homers in a game the Mets won, 4-3. Both home runs came with two strikes (Swoboda struck out in his other two at-bats that day).
But the big moment came in Game 4 against the
Orioles. There were two runners on in a 1-0 game and if Swoboda had not caught the ball, two runs would've scored instead of one. The Mets won the game in the 10th inning and finished the Orioles in Game 5. Swoboda had DVDs of both games and if he's feeling nostalgic for the Mets or Shea, he pops one in his player.
