Touring Citi Field Between Right Field And Center Field (Part 1)

As we continue our tour of Citi Field, we head from the right field corner toward center.

The first thing we found were these poor man's dippin dots. I haven't had them, but I didn't realize there was a market for two ice creams of this style. Maybe they are awesome.






Next you will find the Catch of the Day.

I'm not sure I get it. Baltimore, I get it. Flushing Bay, seafood...I don't get it.









So you don't have to squint:

Fresh Flounder $8.50

Grilled Shrimp Po' Boy $12.75 (because $13 would be pricey)

Lobster Roll $17

Shrimp Cocktail Salad $14.75

and some other things.

Off to the bridge we head...












..right below our feet are the banner flags from the various championships. Well buried at the Bullpen Gate.

Look at the beautiful view of 126th!

Those aren't the banner flags from the championships by the bullpen gate. This past Sunday, the actual banners were flying on the flagpoles above the Pepsi Porch -- two each on the flagpoles immediately to the left and right of the Pepsi sign for each of the Mets' NL champion teams.

What you see near the bullpen gate are the placards that the Mets put up on the wall at Shea sometime in the late 90s, at which time they put the original flags in storage. (It may have been after '99, when they added placards for the '88 division winning team and the '99 'Wildcard Winner.") With the actual flags flying within view of the field, these fall in the category of Shea memorabilia, and not necessarily a slight to former Mets championship teams. That said, the Rotunda would have been a perfect location to showcase them, if the Wilpons had allowed the Rotunda to have a Mets theme.
