Just read that the Japanese JJ Putz (I should learn his name, the new
guy) will be wearing number 18.

Kinda surprised they didn't offer 17 or heck why not 41?

I know this is a common sentiment, but really, if you're not going to retire it, please use it. At least it implies a decision (and thereby thought) was made, and even though many of us don't agree, it's better than them just bumbling along cluelessly. After all, you never know who's gonna stick and become a star. It likely won't be Iggy (who I'll learn how to spell when it becomes relevant), but then again you never know.

I don't get the problem with Ryota Igarashi's uniform number assignment. Since Darryl Strawberry left, 13 different players and one manager wore it.

Aside from Bret Saberhagen and Moises Alou, none of them had particularly impressive major league resumes when they got the number.

The Mets are not going to retire the uniform numbers of all the stars from 1986, so it's best that they issue them.

Also, the whole "Japanese JJ Putz" thing is getting old.

If You're Visiting For The First Time

If you are visiting The Mets Police for the first time, welcome.

This blog aims to be a little different. We're less likely to complain about a pitching change than we are likely to complain about what the pitcher was wearing.

We're about Mets history and tradition. We'd like to see a Seaver statue at Citi Field. We'd like the black uniforms to go away. We'd like the team to always treat the fans with respect.

We're just regular old Mets fans like you who have migrated from the uppers to the Promenade where we were saddened when we found plexiglass. Finally, for all our complaining we just want the franchise to win the World Series (while nicely dressed).

The site is updated several times a day, usually morning, noon, and night (cliche but true) with other items as they come in.
