The Mets Police

The missus and I went to the game this afternoon. I have to say that New Shea is really starting to feel like home. I'm not saying that past criticisms are no longer warranted, but I am warming up to it.

After the game I took a few pictures of the markers the Mets have laid out in the parking lot where the Shea infield was.


A few things I noticed:

• The distance from Home Plate to the outer wall of New Shea doesn't seem too short (as some have suggested). Of course this is me simply eye-balling it - I am sure someone will eventually go out and do an accurate measurement.
• I found it interesting that they used the official term for the Pitcher's Rubber - "Pitcher's Plate."
• I like that they used the outlines of the neon players on each of the markers.

The markers are a very nice touch. Let's see how clean they stay as cars drive over them.

YES Blog is posting pics from today's workout at New New Yankee Stadium.

Yes we're Yankees heavy today.

I'm so psyched for this weekend - I'm hitting "Shea" tomorrow (my brain thinks Shea) and "Yankee" on Saturday.  I wish the exhibition games weren't concurrent.  Damn Yankees stole the Mets dates.

I like that they kept the scoreboard skyline with the ribbon over the Twin Towers. (A few pictures in) Cool.   I wish they gave it better placement.

Nobody says Twin Towers any more, it's all World Trade Center.

NY1 posted this really good video of Citi Field but I'm still overly concerned about the dividerless urinals.

It has nothing to do with the Mets, and it went underreported in my opinion but The Rock said he did steroids.

Also underreported in Metsland was that Ollie Perez threw 85 pitches in a WBC game!

My man Lee Mazzilli made the Teas Rangers Worst 10 list.   From the Arlington perspective I can't say I disagree.   As much as I loved Lee, that was a major fleecing.

A surprise #1 this week:  The new name for the Formerly Shea Subway Stop.

People still love pics - but it surprised me that the 150 Pics of New Yankee Stadium  were more popular than the 300 Pics of New Yankee Stadium or the Tons of Pics of Citi Field.   Curious what the signage looks like at the gates at Citi - click here and while not new, people are still curious about the Obstructed Views at Citi.  I won't get to see Yankee because The Yankees Won't Sell Me Tickets.

You caught that The Rock admitted to taking steroids , didn't you?

Will you watch Football at Citi Field?  I like alt-football leagues but this one is doomed.

Nobody cared about this one but I'm a little concerned about seeing your Willie Randolph, so check out this video of the divider-less urinals at Citi.   (ha I started to type "Shea" after the word "at" - way to go brain!)  Eyes forward everyone.

I also thought that K-Rod's media meltdown  went underreported.   This is a bad sign to me.

Since I don't want to be a blog-whore, I'm going to send you the really always-rocks-it-out New Stadium Insider and from there you can check out the other 299 pics of New New Yankee Stadium that aren't this one.

I'm not being all anti-Yankee but this new place looks like someone built it in the 1970s.  That's a really 70's Coney Island looking hallway, whereas Citi has that nice open feel that Philly has.  Go here.

The headline is actually more exciting than reading that the Yankees have a new cap , but it is accurate.
