New York Mets Should Honor Eddie Grant (Mushnick)

I held back on this for a few days since today is a busy "real life" day for me.

On Sunday, Mushnick wrote about former New York (baseball) Giant Eddie Grant who we have written about before.

Mushnick:

A Grant plaque could make special any wall in patrons' view within Citi Field. And with the Brooklyn Dodgers holding a visible presence within Citi Field, sustaining Grant's memory as both a New York Giant and the only major leaguer to be killed in action in WW I would be a noble deed. If not the Mets, who?

The Mets have been contacted about Grant and, preliminarily, seem interested. Good. Soldier, scholar and athlete, Eddie Grant, especially among those who never heard of him, should not be forgotten.

Nice sentiment. But why? Screw the Giants. Screw the Dodgers. You want a Polo Grounds Museum in Manhattan? Cool. But this guy has nothing to do with the Mets. Maybe we'll become a valid MLB franchise one day IF we let go of this dead-team crap. Christ!---what's next? Honoring the team that played in Hoboken in the mid-19th century?

If You're Visiting For The First Time

If you are visiting The Mets Police for the first time, welcome.

This blog aims to be a little different. We're less likely to complain about a pitching change than we are likely to complain about what the pitcher was wearing.

We're about Mets history and tradition. We'd like to see a Seaver statue at Citi Field. We'd like the black uniforms to go away. We'd like the team to always treat the fans with respect.

We're just regular old Mets fans like you who have migrated from the uppers to the Promenade where we were saddened when we found plexiglass. Finally, for all our complaining we just want the franchise to win the World Series (while nicely dressed).

The site is updated several times a day, usually morning, noon, and night (cliche but true) with other items as they come in.
