If I told you three of the best players of the decade would all be Mets at the same time you'd be pretty excited right? That team would make the playoffs wouldn't it? What if you could have a team with David Wright, Jose Reyes and three of the best 16 players of the 2000's? That team would win right?

Now as usual I'm being sarcastic, but two of the best players from the '00s are still on the team, and Wright and Reyes are there...so you shouldn't be that less excited. Yes I hated 2009 as much as anyone, yes it drives me nuts that the Mets don't add a player whether it is Lackey now or Manny a year ago (even with that 50 game suspension, coulda used him around July 1st) - but it wouldn't be shocking if the 2010 Mets are actually good. Unfortunately, it won't be shocking if they finish 5th.

There is a core here, the questions are (a) is it enough, (b) is the chemistry wrong for whatever reason (more in a second) and (c) is the manager capable of maximizing their abilities.

As for chemistry - some think it is overrated. Ask yourself, who was a better player on paper: Jefferies or Backman? Kent or Backman? Who would you rather have on your team?
