Good news all around via Neil Best in Newsday.
SNY is going to show game 1 of the 1969 World Series. That's cool. You haven't seen it. You know why? The Mets lose.
Read Neil's article for good quotes from an SNY suit who gets it that the world won't end if they televise a Met loss - hopefully we can next convince him to show random games - and really good quotes from Seaver.
Also, as Old-Timers Day continues to be "too much work" for the Mets, add to the list we're working on of "how to find people" that Neil Best easily located Tom Seaver.
Scroll down the main Mets Police webpage for the Old-Timer's Day discussion and my plan to put it together ourselves (that's you Mr. Reader and me).
Quick housecleaning: really apprectiate the link from Mets Blog this morning about the Carter thing...for clarity's sake it was a guest column. My (Shannon) personal opinion is that retiring 8 for Berra would be a tactical mistake (he is a Yankee) and that the next number to be retired should be 17. However, I thought it was a great guest column and I like anything that starts a healthy respectful discussion. Speaking of respect, I respect Pedro for what he said about New York fans yesterday. It was very honest.
