Five Questions For An Average Mets Fan (Fan #66)

Today's Mets fan is Geoffrey

I really love your blog, great work!
Nice to know I am not the only hurt and angry Mets fan out there.

1. When did you start following the Mets?

1968

2. What is your favorite Mets memory?

Dwight Gooden's first 2 seasons. He was the best pitcher I ever saw, especially 1985.
Mookie Wilson's AB in game 6 of the 1986 WS is a close second, the acquisition of Keith Hernandez in 83 is third.

3. What is your worst Mets memory or experience?

This is not so easy, there are so many bad memories: Nolan Ryan for Jim Fregosi, Tom Seaver for Pat Zachary, The 0-2 HR Gooden gave up to Sciosia in the 88 playoffs, The Torborg and Howe regimes,
Kenny Rogers walking in the winning run in 99, Carlos Beltran's bat on shoulder to end the 06 playoff run, 07-08 chokes...

I will have to go with Dwight Gooden's stint in the Smither's clinic in Spring of 87 as the all time low. This woke me out of my dream state thinking the Mets had a dynasty in the works. How wrong I was, and how average Gooden became afterwards.

4. If you could change one off-field thing about the franchise what would it be?

Get rid of those stupid black uniforms and add some Met's colors to the new stadium. And get Citibanks name off the damn stadium!

5. If you owned the team starting tomorrow, what is the first thing you would change?

Easy: Fire Omar Minaya.
