Winter Classic At Citi Field Would Be Cool

Forgive me but I can't recall how this image came into my possession...but it appears to be a Mets hockey jersey.

It would be neat to have the Winter Classic at Citi Field down the road (how about 2013, along with an MLB All-Star Game) and personally I'd love to see the Islanders wearing their blue and orange throwbacks in the game...but knowing how TV ratings work we'll get the Rangers.

ok, a few things. by 2013, the Islanders franchise will be looking to host a Winter Classic - at Kaufman Stadium in Kansas City (hint, they probably won't be called the Islanders by then).

The Mets hockey jersey looks interesting, and I hope it's only the photo quality that scares me looking at it.

I hate to say it, but the NHL would rather host an outdoors game at either the new Yankee Stadium, or at the new Giants Stadium (I've heard rumors for both for 1 year from today). Either game would involve the Rangers, the one at Giants Stadium would be Rangers @ Devils (I'd send you pictures, but I don't see it logistically happening at Giants Stadium, maybe at the Meadowlands Racetrack though). I just can't see the NHL having a game with 2 teams from the same market, simply because of ratings, but you never know. It could be Islanders @ Rangers at Yankee Stadium.

Of course it should be the Rangers, because the Rangers are the NYC team. Not the long island "ICE-LANDERS". If they did have the New Years Classic at Citi Field it should be an original 6 team vs. the Rangers.

I see a NHL Winter Classic at Yankee Stadium, period. The New Meadowlands Stadium is usually busy with football around the first of the year, no way the Jets/Giants would give up the stadium for 2-3 weeks in late December and the first week or two in January for some hockey game. The old Giants Stadium should be close to dust this time next year.

gosh, mediagoon---the 'icelanders'---how clever. i think steve 'san francisco seals' somers has said that line about 4,987,765 times. i love fresh material. unemployable, he came to nyc, landed his borscht-belt show with his phoney yiddish accent, stuck his finger in the air, and decided to suck up to the rag$ fans because they have a bigger fanbase with a glorious history of ONE cup in seven decades. and they had to buy that cup...

i do think the rag$ should play next year. cool if they play either the isles (FOUR cups in 37 years) or the consistently excellent devils organization (THREE cups in about 25 years), who have the damn best goalie in the area since billy smith won NINETEEN straight playoff series...

they should play in citifield. just out of pity for fred and jeff. an ice rink may be the only venue at that wretched mistake of a stadium where you can see all the players. it'll be a novelty, a one-time event---42,000 people actually being able to see the game.

and drury over okposo---whadda joke!
